NH
Grangers matched their numbers against VT Grangers at the Legion
Hall in White River Junction on May 5th at the annual
VT/NH Night event. VT State Grange Program Director Lester Gibbs
welcomed everyone to the celebration and friendly competition
between the neighboring states. Following a meal, Vermont State
Grange President Clyde Berry from Hartford, VT, and NH State
Grange President Beth Merrill from Antrim,
NH,
introduced leaders from the two states. NH Program Director
Marie Hall then introduced
a lively series of humorous floor
games with participants from NH, VT, and “Newmont” competing for
the gold, silver, and bronze medals. At the end of the evening,
results were mixed, but VT took home the attendance banner with
a strong majority of the more than 100 participants in their
court. All in all, however, it was a successful evening of
neighborly sociability, good food, and entertainment, proving
once again that the nearly 140 year old rural community service
organization continues to be where the whole family can go and
grow.
